National Flower Arranging Day
Will be going ahead this year on May 7 th - with changes necessary to fit in with current policies nationwide.
Please encourage all members you come in contact with to join in.
We are using our homes to firstly mark the day but maybe more importantly
to give a little cheer and sign of hope, maybe remembering the saying:
“If you hold a flower close to your heart you will see only beauty and hope”.
The task is to put a ‘something floral’ on a front door, front gate, front fence..... you will get the picture.
Use wherever there is in your home that can be seen from the road and path.
We cannot have people picking up posies left in public places so this is our best option.
You can make of it what you choose, a single bloom and bow, posy on a gate,
baskets on a gate post, swag on a fence or a wicker ring on the front door.
The latter proved so popular when we did our Rings of Hope last summer for the NHS.
Some clubs told their local newspapers so the same could be done this time.
Have fun creating and please share your creations with us!
We are delighted to be able to offer you a small selection of FREE downloadable booklets, which we hope you enjoy. Our grateful thanks go to all those involved in the creation and design of these booklets.

Time sees great change everywhere, ideas, opinions, technology, and economics all leave a mark. NAFAS has changed over its 60 plus years and will continue to in order to become relevant and attract more members.
Time, however, does not change the basis of the Elements and Principles we use in flower arranging as Pam Bluer, past Chairman of the National Education Committee mentions in the first edition of this book, that knowledge is essential.
We are delighted to be republishing this popular book, in which the understanding and meaning of contemporary floral design is relevant to the here and now.

A REMINDER TO ALL CLUBS FROM OUR CHAIR, KATHERINE KEAR
National CHAIRMAN’S CHALLENGE.
Given we are going to be less active for longer than we had hoped I am setting my CC as a simple way of giving clubs a chance to work on a simple project. Each month will have a title and areas are invited to ask each club to produce something to illustrate that title, it does not have to be an arrangement, it can be a collection of items as an assemblage, a collection of plants, containers etc., clubs are only limited by their imaginations.
The area collects all the photographs of the entries, one from each club that wants to take part, the area then emails the image they think best to me and then the board will award points.
There will be a small prize for the area with the most points at the end of the year.
Obviously whilst lockdown lasts clubs will have to appoint one member to produce the entry.
I am not setting areas against each other, just trying to keep creative juices going and ensure
the whole association remains active and interactive, only support this as an area if you choose.
Entries to Chairman by the last day of the competition month.
A selection of images will be put on our website, face book, etc.
The sending of the image presumes you give permission for it to be used wherever NAFAS chooses.
